Only mayors from countries covered by both surveys are considered

The relation between the party (partisanship) of the mayor and his/her leadership style was found to be statistically significant for the survey carried out in 2015–2016 (Table 7.8). The findings in the whole sample of countries are not very different from the findings of the first survey. Some remarkable differences were found for mayors from communist parties (probably due to peculiarities of these parties in the countries additionally included in the recent survey) and also among independent/local parties (which are definitely very sensitive to national, regional and local peculiarities).Table 7.8Leadership styles and mayors’ party affiliation (2015–2016)
